7. Vote for DIVERSITY

I don’t care what your religious, cultural or economic background is. United States is the melting pot of the world. This country is based on the freedom of individualism, religion and speech. Our Constitution is the backbone of this country. Let's not forget it. political election humor 

We need our country represented better. Why can’t our next President be a woman, Mormon or black? Or Jewish or Catholic? Oh, yeah, we’ve had at least one Catholic president so far.

One issue that I’ve seen over the last ten to fifteen years is that we have the extreme liberals and extreme conservatives pushing their values on the rest of the country. I’m not overly religious, but I don’t think high school prayer should be banned because an atheist feels uncomfortable. This country was formed on the basis of prayer - “One nation under God.” Leave it be. Let there be prayer in schools.

Of course a person should have the right to believe what they want. If you believe in God, good for you. If you don’t believe in God, then that’s your choice as well.

There are so many religions and so many denominations. Are Christians the only ones who are right? Which Christians? Southern Baptists believe differently than Pentecostals or Methodists. What about Muslims? There are Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims. Which God do all these religions and denominations worship? 

And then we have the Buddhists and Hindu. So are we supposed to leave out prayer of any kind? Let’s have GENERIC GOD PRAYER – if someone doesn’t want to participate, they can have a moment of silence – why is that a problem? I’m getting a headache just writing this.

Religion should not be an issue in this campaign. People should have the right to be represented on the key topics that affect us all. Freedom of religion is important but by the same token I don’t want one particular religion telling me how I should feel from a moral, ethical and everyday living stand point.

RELIGION IS A HUGE ISSUE IN THE MIDDLE EAST

In my opinion, we went to war in Iraq because we were influenced by the religious right. This has affected all of us negatively. Even the religious rights have been affected. We thought we could get in, take Hussein out and go home. But it became a war of religions -Muslims against Christians. We may not think of it like that, but I’m sure they do in the Middle East. Christians and Muslims fighting against each other is nothing new. Muslims fighting against Jews is nothing new. It's  been going on for  centuries.

My friends in Europe tell me they think America meddles too much into other people's business. Maybe we should give up on being the moral cop of the world. We should let Europeans handle their own problems.

WE HAVE ISSUES HERE AT HOME

I still see plenty of prejudice in America today. We had “colored” fountains across America in 1960s. That’s not too long ago – okay 40 something years ago is a LONG time to a young country like the U.S., but in old countries in Europe or the Middle East that was just the other day.

The “noose” incidents were recent as 2007. That makes my blood boil. Freedom is great, but prejudice is not.

Freedom in America stops when we infringe on the rights of other individuals’ pursuit of happiness. THAT is what America is all about. It’s that simple.

Prejudice runs on both sides. I see whites who don't like blacks and blacks who don't like whites. And not every Muslim living in America is a terrorist. The problem is, every religion has extremists. Most of the KKK members call themselves Christians. 

Religion is a complex issue and it should be put aside. Race is a complex issue and it should be put aside. We need to vote for the candidate who will enable us to better our lives. We need a candidate that will make Americans proud.

IMMIGRATION

Immigration is a huge issue in this campaign - it shouldn’t be. 

There are legal ways for people to come into our great country. Illegal aliens shouldn’t be given the same privileges as legal immigrants. Why should we use our tax money to pay for their health care? Why should we pay for their education?

THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY COUNTRY IS A COMMON LANGUAGE 

And I believe that EVERY immigrant should learn to speak English. And we should spend our tax money on helping them.

I am sick and tired of seeing English and Spanish signs at banks, and hearing Spanish instructions before an airplane takes off on a domestic flight. I’ve even seen Spanish television commercials on non-Spanish channels. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love the Latino culture. I have played futebol (soccer) with Latinos. However, if you come here legally or illegally, whether from Latin America or the Eastern Bloc, learn English. There is no excuse.

PLEASE LEARN AND SPEAK ENGLISH

Again, the foundation of every country is a common language. When I see this country providing instructions in English and Spanish, I see the beginning of the break up of the union. Building the wall on along our border is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. In some of the countries in the Eastern Bloc, when someone crosses the border illegally, they get shot. Yes, they really do. Here, when we catch them, we feed them and send them back to try again.

I’ve heard a million reasons why we need illegal aliens such as “they will do jobs no American wants to do.” Of course Americans WOULD do those jobs, but not for “under minimum” wage. Using illegal immigrants is merely an excuse for business owners to get around paying minimum wage to American citizens. It’s pathetic!

When we support illegal aliens, our country pays much more than we save. The solution to illegal aliens is very simple. Whoever hires illegal aliens to work should be put in jail. If you run a lawn mower service and have illegal aliens working for you, we should put your ass in jail for about a year. We make a few employers examples and publicize it. I bet the hiring of illegal aliens stop.

Employers are going to complain that the costs of screening for illegal aliens will be expensive. Not as much as it is currently costing us in supporting the illegal alien system. Legal aliens pay over $400 for high-tech green cards with magnetic encoding of all of their information. What is the purpose? Employers should have scanners to check the green cards so they can protect themselves and obey the laws. It’s up to them – they don’t have to purchase a scanner, but if they hire an illegal, their ass is grass. There has to be some way employers can check green cards.

Things have gotten so out of hand that next thing you know, and we’re going to have an illegal alien sue the U.S Constitution in order to run for a Presidency. Crazy thought? Well, Texas Monthly voted “The Illegal Alien” as person of the year.

I can just see it now. There is going to be a bill proposed in the near future that requires the Constitution of the Unites States to be written in Spanish, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and a few other languages.

I hope Vladimir Putin doesn't ask for it to be written in Russian too.

VOTE FOR DIVERSITY

It’s time our presidency had some diversity. Government should represent all of our people. If you look at the U.S. demographics, the White House is not fairly representing the American population of Blacks, Hispanics and others – and women represent over half our population!

What would Putin do?

what wrong with Racism ? IMO thats no big deal,I have some friends who are Russian live at St Petersburg,talking about racism,there are many country in the world who are multiple times more racist than USA,I think in USA at least minorities have right,In Russia many minorities being treated badly,attacked,beaten up and mostly people there dont care.
USA is too nice for minorities IMO.
BTW I admire Vladimir Putin always,he is very strong,excellent president,smart and fearless.
Black Belt,Leningrad university graduate,remarkable leadership for the past 8 years of his presidency.
I wish US have someone like him ,someone in his caliber.
