6. Vote for EDUCATION
EDUCATION IS THE FOUNDATION OF ANY COUNTRY
political election humor
The education of our country is in a pathetic state. We pay millions of dollars to professional football, baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer players (for soccer, only a few like David Beckham) to play sixteen to eighty games in a regular season, depending on type of sport. We pay our teachers crap considering they have to deal with all the B.S. they face today: spoiled, defiant and disrespectful students, gangs, lack of respect and laziness. Teachers are responsible for teaching and guiding our next generation.
David Beckham accepted a $250 million contract to come to America to promote soccer and lift the sport to another level. One day, we'll have a teacher receive similar offer to promote education in America. Da, da, da, sure we are.
TEACHERS ARE THE REAL HEROES OF THIS NATION
Teachers deserve to be treated like celebrities. Why does America worships people like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan?
It takes a special talent to do what teachers do. Teachers today have more to do than teach – they have to worry about guns in the classrooms, drug dealers, being beaten by their students in the hallways where they work for so little money.
Today’s parents don’t discipline their children like they did in the past. They seem to have less respect for elders than past generations. Teens have “an attitude.” Gee… do you think perhaps it all goes back to the condition of our economy and the fact that gas and electricity and groceries cost so much that both parents must work to even provide the minimum necessities?
The school bus represents the current state of education in America.
EDUCATION IS OUR FUTURE
We need to pay teachers more.
We need to promote education better.
We need to make teachers our new celebrities.
It’s a sad state that all the kids of today have to look up to are actors and drug-taking, booty-chasing Hip Hop Gangstas or professional athlete. I like hip hop music, but not everyone can be a hip hop artist, and not everyone is going to be a professional athlete. We need to make education hip. We need to make it cool. What
Al Gore has done for global warming, we need to do the same for American education.
The U.S. is being passed up by other countries when it comes to intellectual capital.
Look at Cuba! Very few homes have television and they pass their time reading books and learning. Cuba has some of the best medical doctors in the world and a lower infant mortality rate than the U.S. Shocking!
Many of our companies are moving their efforts to places like India because the population is better educated than in the U.S.
WHAT IF TEACHERS WERE PAID LIKE PRO ATHLETES?
Can you imagine if superstar teachers were paid a million dollars per year because they are educating students in a positive way? Hmm…can you picture this:
Mrs. Knowtree, we'll give you a $30 million contract extension if you'll stay in our high school for another ten years. What do you have to say? C’mon. Please stay. Our children worship you. They yearn to learn.
Now, just like professional sports, not every teacher will be able to get paid like Tom Brady. But they certainly deserve to get paid better than they are today. They have a big influence on the future of our country. There is a solution to this problem but that is a topic of future blogs.
In America, we have great Universities and Colleges. Unfortunately, we aren't receiving enough brain power from our high schools. We import it by educating students from other parts of the world. And when we do supply enough brain power from our high schools, we make sure our students pay outrageous tuition and high interest rates for their school loans. The recent debacle in regards to school loans at major universities is a good example.
We spend billions of dollars on military but we treat our education system like a second class citizen.
We give billions of dollars to third world countries but we don't take care of our own students in poor areas. Not every child living in a poor area of this country wants to be a gangsta or work at some fast food chain for minimum wage (which is ridiculously low!). They have big dreams too but they aren’t given a chance to succeed.
We aren’t doing enough for our children today to face the world of tomorrow when it comes to education. Our children are not competing anymore against children here in America - they’re competing against children all over the world that see education as their way out of poverty.
EDUCATION IS THE SUREST WAY OUT OF POVERTY
Hollywood is in a great position to help us promote this in a culture dominated by celebrities. Who’s going to be the next "Al Gore for Education? "
We need someone to step up to the front "invent" education just like Al Gore has "invented" the Internet and made people aware of Global Warming.
If you’re a celebrity with passion for education, e-mail me. I’ve got a few ideas to share.
To all the Hip Hop Gangsta’s:
Would you please write a few songs that promote education, learning, schools and teachers in a positive way? Eminem, 50 Cent , Akon, and others….please? I love your music…can you do something?
