When I look at Congress (both Democrats and Republicans) I see a lot of experienced politicians. That's the problem folks. They have experience making promises then not delivering, running up the national debt, making poor decisions like voting for war in Iraq in order to save the planet from the evil forces of WMD that Sadam had in store for all of us. They have lots of experience in allowing the energy industries to write up the energy bill. The list goes on...
Experience can be a bad thing because a person can turn into...
someone who sees the world from a specific point of view. I try to remove my experiences from time to time so that I can look at the world in a fresh, new way. Look at children. They may not be experienced like adults but I've heard them say many wise things because they can operate outside the box.
Besides, being an experienced politician and running the largest and most powerful country in the world (is America still all that?) is like asking someone to play soccer in the English Premier League straight out of high school. Even Ronaldo, the spectacular Portuguese midfielder, who plays for Manchester United, had to adjust to the style of English soccer play for a year or two after being acquired at the ripe age of eighteen. Today, he's one of the most exciting players to watch in the game.
Experience can suck. If you've had some bad experiences like Hillary had with her husband during the White House years, it could come back to haunt her. What if Hillary won, went to the White House, sat in the Oval Office and then had a post traumatic break down over Monica Lewinsky ordeal? Maybe, she'd divorce Billy during her White House presidency like French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who divorced his wife Cecilia during his presidential stay.
Imagine the hoopla, the circus, the paparazzi, the bedlam and mayhem if Hillary won the White House, had a flash back and divorced Billy during her Presidential stay. Neither Princess Diana nor Britney Spears nor Bill Clinton could top that moment. It would be every media's dream come true. The presses would crank 24/7.
Yeah, experience is good in some situations and bad in others. That idea inspired the cartoon above. Obama should stop getting defensive about his lack of experience. Look at Bill Clinton. Despite his lack of experience, he did a good job in the White House, despite extra curricular activities. Now, you may hate me making that statement but when Billy was in a White House, people lived much better. (I'm not a Democrat by the way.)
Unless you've been a President, you haven't experienced it. It's easy being an arm chair quarterback. There are no schools for becoming a President. I wish there were. Maybe we wouldn't be in the mess we're today.
What would Putin do? Would he use his experiences from Russia and apply it in United States? Now, that would be very interesting indeed.
